Happy Birthday Blue Anchor Bay!

On 23rd July 2011 Blue Anchor Bay began.....

I honestly had no idea that my page on Facebook would become so popular and yet, as I write, I have 1249 'likes' I prefer to call them/you visitors...In my head it is a place and we are all virtual visitors. It has become a truly happy place to be, I have been lucky to have come across so many lovely, talented, supportive and encouraging people and obviously, without you my page would not exist. I thank each and every one of you for being here. Some of you have been here right from the start and shared my amazing journey and even now I still meet people and there is an instant empathy and understanding between us....

So I would like to share what I feel have been the Highlights of the year for me...

The first is the meeting people and forging of Friendships and there are certain people that I would love to meet in real life and hope that this can be arranged...

Next is the fact that once I had started my sewing classes and showcasing my work that people actually wanted to buy it!... www.facebook.com/SoSewPretty

Then a very lovely Lady called Jackie asked to buy some cards to sell on the website Not on the High St! This was a huge achievement for me, one I never dreamed would come true...

My next step upwards was to become a Transatlantic Seller, when a lady in USA asked to buy 9 sets of my fish bunting and needed them in a hurry!....

Totally out of the blue came an email from my sewing teacher, Leah, asking if I would like a stall at her Summer Fete in Castle Douglas!.....I did not need asking twice! It is taking place next weekend and I am very excited as it is my first....

Of course the Absolute Highlight of the Year was the Marriage of my Son Nick and his Wife Sharron which took place up here in Scotland in May, it has to have been one of the Happiest Days of my Life alongside my own Marriage meeting my sister and the Birth of my two children.....

Life certainly can be surprising...never did I think that, at the age of 52, I would be learning a new skill!....but I did, I discovered the art of Bookbinding and I love it!....Luckily for me I also have a Fabulous and very patient mentor called Lizzie. I have made and sold quite a few of my pamphlet style notebooks and have recently progressed on to Japanese Stab Stitch Binding which I love, just don't mention the word glue!!!....

One more opportunity has arisen that I was quite nervous about taking part in...a lovely lady called Fran, who makes the most amazing rubber stamps, (I bought a lovely vintage caravan one from her) was looking for volunteers to take part in a trial for selling on her website, I ummed and aaahed and then took the plunge and asked if I could take part and she said yes!!! Not only that but she has designed the most gorgeous shop front for me

So.....to celebrate my Birthday I have been Very Selfish and decided to buy myself a present....for some time I have been thinking about having a proper logo....There is a young lady whose work I came across a while ago and really admired....I finally plucked up the courage to ask her if she would design one for me and she agreed!...I am thrilled and can't wait to see what she comes up with...I have an idea of what I would like and just hoping that our ideas are the same!....

I will let you know as soon as I do and will share on my page...

Once again a Huge Thank-You to Everyone for their continued Support & Encouragement and hope you will all join me for the next exciting leg of the journey, lots of love, Jacqueline
